Mason Jar How To

I am throwing one of my friends a "diaper and gift card shower" for her second baby! She doesn't know the sex to this baby (I love since we did not either) so I am making it as gender neutral as possible. I am having way too much fun with all the crafts and details! One of my favorite items at the shower is the "prize mason jars" that I have made. They will hold the goodies for the lucky winners ;) These were so easy to make and I decided why not share a "how to".

Supplies:

  • Mason Jar (how many do you want to make?)
  • Chalk Paint (your color choice) I purchased mine at walmart it was $5 and some odd cents
  • Paint brush
  • Modge Podge (I used matte)
  • Glitter (of your choice)
  • Burlap/ Lace (you could use whatever fabric you desire)
  1. First you need to do a coat of chalk paint all over the outside of the mason jar, let dry and repeat.
  2. After chalk paint is completely dry then paint on modge podge to the bottom two inches of the mason jar, then cover with glitter. Shake the excess glitter off then repeat another coat.
  3. Make sure modge podge is complety dry, then do a third coat of modge podge without glitter. Let dry.

  4. then for the top i placed hot glue around the outside edge
  5. After hot glue is on then place fabric on top to how you visually like it, then cut excess fabric off
  6. After glue has dried then repeat step #4 but on the inside of the outer rim, as soon as glue is on then connect the top how it originally was
  7. You will have extra glue, just let dry and then peel off.
